Hope Hamilton News

A warm welcome to all our new families and a welcome back to those we already know! It’s fabulous to see you all and start a new school year again with the promise of all the good things to come. They’ll be lots of new learning, new friendships and the opportunity to get involved with lots of community events so we’re really glad you can join us on our journey through the year.

Most of our communication this year will be electronic so please make sure you’ve signed up to our Facebook page, check the website regularly and that we have your up to date mobile phone number for text alerts. We hope you’ve also been in to admire our new display screen in the school foyer! This will display key messages and pictures to highlight upcoming events, explain our Christian ethos better and demonstrate something of our school curriculum to you. It’s also full of pictures of our fabulous children which is worth seeing just for that! Please ensure you have completed and returned the photo permission slip so we know when we can use your child’s photo and when not to.

Keep re-visiting the website regularly for news updates and a reminder will be posted on our Facebook and texted out when things have been updated.

Staffing

We would like to say hello from our new teachers, Miss Chauhan in year 4 and Miss Ballard in year 2. We have also been joined by some new teaching assistants in Foundation Stage: Mrs Furnish, Miss Roe and Mrs Furlong. We are also pleased to welcome Miss Boles as our Inclusive Play Leader, a valuable asset to our pastoral team. New lunchtime assistants recently have been Mrs Daud and Mrs Bhatt. We know all these new faces will add to our valuable team.

In the Autumn term we will be bidding a fond farewell and good luck to Mrs Barker (yr 2), Miss Jones (Learning Mentor) and Mrs Rollins (yr 4) as they go off on maternity leave. We will welcome them all.

Charities

The Autumn term is a busy one for our charity work and helping the children to understand what this means in terms of our Christian ethos. We teach the children about people less fortunate than them and how we can help: with our time, money and attitude. This month’s charity events are:

21st September – Glow Gold day – tying prayer ribbons on the fence for Solving Kids’ Cancer

25th September onwards – Harvest Festival – bringing in food to donate to the Welcome Project, Leicester

13th November – Children in Need – bring and buy sale in the hall 3.30-4.30pm

30th November tbc – Toys on the Table – replacing our shoe box appeal is this new initiative – more info to follow from Mrs Haigh nearer the time.

Updated behaviour policy

In May we took time as a staff to update our behaviour policy and to check that we have consistent expectations of the children, including rewards and sanctions. The success of our behaviour management stems from this consistency and elements of the Christian ethos e.g. no shouting policy, work on forgiveness, Peace Tables for reconciliation and individual support for children. The updated behaviour policy can be found here.
